aepelbacher 0 Posted July 18, 2006 I went back and forth about desaturating this one. I usually figure that if the color isn't a prominent part of an image, then leave it out. But I really liked the slight pinkish color in her pants and shoes. I also tried a square crop, to get rid of the large empty space on the left. But I couldn't get the girl and both fountains in the square crop, so I left it at 2:3 (I try to make most of my uploads 2:3 for whatever reason). Anyway ... I just thought this was a precious scene. All the other kids were running and jumping and splashing. This little gal is probably a bit conservative and maybe for her, just touching the water like this is "risk taking". Any thoughts or ideas are always most welcome! Warm regards! Link to comment
colin carron 58,916 Posted July 18, 2006 Yes, I like it too. You have really got the feeling of her exploring something new. I would crop a bit off the left and maybe darken the upper left corner behind her. Link to comment
Jebamony 3 Posted July 18, 2006 I like the version with darker background. Do you think removing the colour of her reflection will make a difference? Just an idea for another version! Link to comment
aepelbacher 0 Posted July 18, 2006 That's an interesting idea, Julius. In fact, I could desaturate everything except the girl, her clothes and her hair. Thanks guys for these ideas!! Link to comment

kslonaker 0 Posted July 19, 2006 I like what Colin did - the upper left was distracting me. Now you concentrate entirely on the little girl and what she is doing. The color works, imo. Link to comment
lbattjes 0 Posted July 21, 2006 I also like the darkened background...it really helps to isolate her and keep your focus on what she's doing. Color is fine, but I'd be interested in seeing the selective desat as well. Leslie Link to comment
