2003 Disks

Hi Len, what kind of a disk is it? looks industrial?, anyway, I find its shape interesting. I like the way you have cropped it, sort of gradual from L to R hs. The rusty appearance, color and texture, the roundness vs. the bottom triangles, all these ellements are making it an interestimg composition. I wonder are the colors PSed, or genuine? In any event I like them.

Pnina, Thanks for your thoughts. I'm a city boy so perhaps a real farmer could help us out on this one. It's my understanding that these disks were pulled behind a tractor after the field has been plowed to further break up the soil in readiness for planting. This one hasn't been used for a while:-) During the scanning of this shot I clicked on the 'Auto Color Correction' button and that action bumped the colours up to the level you see here (about 25%) The amount of colour in this rusty old farm implement amazes me though it wasn't the colours that attracted me, rather, the shapes. So much gets past me at the time of exposure that I'm frequently quite surprised, as with this one, at the final result. In PS, I usually crop, resize, adjust colours, then sharpen & finally, remove dust spots. Best, LM.

Len, not much to critique here. The colours are great and the repeating pattern works well.

Disks - colours 

 

If you really want to have some fun with this one invert it.  To me the colours now resemble something one would see through a telescope pointed at the night sky.  (might have to stretch your imagination a bit)  :-)  Thanks for your participation.  Best, LM.
