Ray, nice composition, the music tool " immitate" the woman's contours. I think that the one behind her is one too much. otherwise, it is well done, sharp, beautiful light and pose in B/W.

Lovely in every way! Tasteful, nicely lit and composed - and I particularly admire the tonality on her skin. Superb....

You need to somehow get a more harmonious composition among the three shapes. I'm not exactly sure how you would do it, but this one isn't optimal, IMHO. Excellent idea, though. Keep working at it. (No rating)

Great concept. On the one hand, the cello in the back is what makes the photo different from other "girl and violin" photos. On the other hand, the cello does seem to distract a little. The thing that I think that detracts is the "C" bout on the cello. I think if you slid the cello toward her head a few inches and raised the girl (or lowered the cello) a few inches you would be able to see the overall curves of the cello without the distracting curves of the C bout. It's just a suggestion, and to be honest, I wouldn't have considered it if it weren't for the other comments.

Don't let my suggestion take away from the fact that I do think it is a great photo. The skin tones are great and the positioning of the girl's head coupled with her expression is brilliant.

Ray, I simply love the interplay of the "hour-glass" shapes of the string instruments and the model. What a fantastic composition! The silky smooth skin of the model provides wonderful contrast against the wood grain. Excellent work. Regards, Kelvin.

Hi, nice looking model and instruments. I find it very cliche though, I like nude women, and I am a violinmaker. So, as a trio she's the viola, I guess she's not a player, too. Good lighting, like to see more of the same with less formal approach.

Cheers.

I like the concept, and Elizabeth is, of course, a beautiful young lady (I've photographed her, too).

I don't see this as any sort of cliche, but rather a variation on an often used theme. The female form as a beautiful instrument is a theme/allegory which goes back hundreds of years.

That said, I think I would have moved the cello more to the left of the frame so that its curve would sort of match the curve of Elizabeth's hips and waistline.

As a musician, the idea of someone lying around naked with orchestral instruments strikes me as... just a bit bizarre.

May I suggest a follow-up series featuring the tuba, contrabassoon, and crash cymbals? ;-)

(Sorry, occupational hazard, I guess.)

As a musician also, I don't find it bizarre, but I think it would be better without the cello. With just the violon, it's easier to believe that she's holding HER violon, and the she is a musician posing with her instrument. It gives a different meaning to the picture. It would be even better if she was looking at the camera, I think. The cello kind of tell me that the model and the two instruments are just accessories, without any emotional relation between them, if I can say it this way (Unless she's a virtuoso and can play well with both).

As a professional violinist, manager and artistic director, I hope that the title means she will come in my country (Belgium) For the Queen Elisabet's concourse of violin... Just kidding. A very good approach of the most perfect curves in the world : String quartet and female body... 7/7 !!!
