dmo_galleries_chicago_phot 0 Posted July 14, 2006 This shot is nice, but I prefer the one where the crane is also in the shot. I enjoy your work, though. Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted July 15, 2006 There's a very weird thing going on with this shot...sometimes it's vertical and sometimes it's horizontal..I like horizontal better, personally! Tremendous bricks, fantastic reflection - Link to comment
oswegophoto 1 Posted July 16, 2006 Doug, thank you. I agree with you; this is number two, after all, though it's the earlier shot. It was an afterthought to walk across the street, looking back at the building, that produced the long shot with more ... stuff.Lee, thanks! How perceptive you remain; exactly the issue I have with it. You really prefer horizontal? Should I re-upload it that way? Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted July 17, 2006 Did you notice when you made your comment, the picture is rotated? Never seen that phenomenon before... Re-upload it that way? By all means...I sincerely thought it had to have been an error on your part, anyway! And YES, it's a shadow...not a reflection! What WAS I thinking? Link to comment
oswegophoto 1 Posted July 17, 2006 Ma'am, if'n I knew what women were thinkin', reckon I'd be rich, 'stead o' jus' good lookin'.Re-uploaded per your request. An' if you didn't like it t'other way: why, then, yes'm, it was a mistake. ;-) Link to comment
oswegophoto 1 Posted July 17, 2006 ... down here, so no one has to get bothered by it, but I kinda like it, somehow. Looks more dimensional ... Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted July 17, 2006 a skeleton from War of the Worlds, this way! Thanks for being so accomodating, Don! You didn't have to make any major changes (such as a 90 rotation!), just for lil ol' moi...Quite kind of you though! Link to comment
oswegophoto 1 Posted July 17, 2006 Quite fair, actually; I owed you one for "See Em Squared?" (half way down this page, remember?) — I think pool water came out my nose on that line, so you'd earned a favor. Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted July 17, 2006 I'm SO glad you got it - I'm not sure anyone ELSE did! I can rest easy now...((((:& Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted July 17, 2006 I like the new way as well. It makes me want to call the bricklayer to compliment him on his new technique. Seriously, the image works as an abstract now and the textures seem more alive. It really is good to change our point of view at times. Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted July 18, 2006 A fine abstract composition. I strongly prefer the horizontal version: the elements balance each other out much more pleasingly in it. I especially like how the pattern viewed through the window complements the patterns on the wall. I'd be tempted to soup up the post-processing on this by adding an overlay layer at 20% and a softlight layer with a bit of blur. Also, I think a 6x4 aspect ratio would present the subject more effectively. Link to comment
