pjmeade 12 Posted July 12, 2006 Taken from about 1.5 m, the closest focusing range for this lens. A bee moving from flower to flower was quite a challenge for the auto focus with this lens. What do you think? Link to comment

colin carron 58,916 Posted July 12, 2006 Excellent detail in the bee and a nice blurry background. I'm impressed with the magnmification you got here. How much is the frame cropped? And waht do you think of the IS? Link to comment
pjmeade 12 Posted July 13, 2006 Thanks for looking. Colin, the full frame is posted here. I've been very impressed with the IS on my 24-105 over the last few months and what I've seen of the IS on the 300 has also been impressive. I've had some sharp images at 1/200th, where conventional wisdom suggests I need about 1/500th for the 300/20D combination. The lens has the benefit of a more sophisticated IS that enables stabilisation whilst panning, but I've not used it yet. I should have a better feel or it after this weekends airshow and if the test match lasts until Monday. Cheers. Peter Link to comment

Guest Guest Posted July 17, 2006 Hi Pete, You've done well to get the bee in sharp focus (with a wide enough dof), I spent quite some time with my 35mm Flektogon (extremely close focusing - at the risk of being stung) taking photos of bees and don't think I managed one as nice as this - I'll have a trawl through the archives later and see if I have anything worth posting. I'm starting to think I'd like some IS niceness myself :D Link to comment
lucyhollis 2 Posted May 8, 2008 A test shot? So beautiful in itself! Great colour between the gold and lavender. Link to comment
