Karl Schuler 48 Posted July 8, 2006 In the mountainous Indus side-valleys in Northern Pakistan, there are precious cedar and pine forests. Most of the people in these valleys are very poor. On our last trip along the Karakorum Highway we met hundreds of trucks transporting timber out of the area. Pakistan is one of the countries with the lowest forest cover. Drought and floods affect almost every year the livelihoods of millions of people. Link to comment
snapshot1 0 Posted July 8, 2006 Great shot! Nice coposition, exposure & color. The dust adds depth & atmosphere. I have never seen trucks decorated like that. Link to comment

carsten_ranke 0 Posted July 9, 2006 Great capture, those giant trucks approaching the viewer quickly... Interesting subject and story (thanks for the info), and photographically a well composed shot with crossing diagonals, great depth, natural colors, dense atmosphere. Link to comment

ptourtellotte 0 Posted November 30, 2006 I saw quite a few of these trucks years ago in Punjab-It would be nice to ride in the top to get some great photos. A German anthropologist photographed alot of similar trucks a good tens years ago and had a photo exhibition. Alot of the trucks are painted in Rawapindi, but I am sure there are shops further north.
