Water, water everywhere...

As floodwaters from the raging Susquehanna River (behind blue house,

at rear) swamp homes near downtown Binghamton, NY, a homeowner

(seated, with red cap)and his friends relax on what's left of his lawn

after carrying furniture to the top floor.

I love the attitude. What a great capture of people making the most of troubled times.

 

If I flood I hope I can handle it so well.....but I would want some beers !

Paul: Thanks for your comments! Yes, upstate New Yorkers do seem to share the Aussies' cool and collected spirit. That's a good thing, too--more than 800 homes were destroyed in just the Binghamton area in the flooding last week. You mention beer: I posted this shot to give a wide view of the water; I'll be filing another, closer image showing this same intrepid group as they hoisted a few brews on their shrinking atoll.
