bartimeus1 0 Posted July 5, 2006 Hmmm... Guess what it was like being in the other side of the lens (27mm) and it was less than a half a meter away... :-) Unfortunately, this time I lost the part of its lower jaw from the frame, because of the very fast action while shooting this... :-( Well, how would you like to comment or rate this image? Thank you for any advice, comment or rating. Link to comment

cherlyn 1 Posted September 12, 2006 I have not seen such a wide mouth ostritch before. Very fast & excellent capture of the moment. Never mind the loss of the lower jaw. It's the mouth sharp details that are awesome. Link to comment
jeverz 0 Posted January 18, 2007 Indeed, in this case it doesnt matter that there is some loss of the jaw. Its such a sharp photo, never have seen the inside of an aimals mouth so sharp :) I hope to be lucky one day, to have a photo like this. (Thanks for your comment, Ellen.) Link to comment
joanbn 0 Posted February 10, 2007 This is one great photo. How did you get it? I've heard that they spit at you if your too close...is that true? Link to comment
bartimeus1 0 Posted February 10, 2007 Thank you Joan, and also thanks for all of you! I really appreciate your comments! This was shot so, that I had the camera inside of the fence that restricted the movement of these ostrichs. The fence had large holes and I used one those holes to stretch my arms and camera into their area. I had visited this place once before and I thought that I could read their body language so, that I would be able to take the camera and hands away, if they would attack. So, this male was particularly aggressive and I can assure you, that this was pretty close call for this camera and for my fingers... :-) As for your question, concerning the spitting... I visited this farm four times and shot aprox. 300-400 images from there. This was the closest, even though I have some others that are shot from allmost similarly close distance. I never noticed the spitting and also the farmers newer warned about anything like that... So, I cannot confirm your knowledge. Thanks again, Joan! Link to comment
