mfpow 0 Posted July 3, 2006 she is indeed a beauty, no doubt about that. nice expression, nice soft lighting on face, but her white hot left shoulder is completley blow-out with no detail, its distracting and competes with the main subject for the eyes atttention. other than that, very nice photo. jana 1 Posted July 3, 2006 Matthew, thanks for your comment. The right lower white matches the black upper left in the composition, that is why the image is called black and white. I was going for a feeling, impression, not for a perfect portrait. I made this on purpose - from a total light to a total darkness. cheers jana Link to comment

r 0 Posted July 4, 2006 black and white i like it, quite a lot, i do however think that the transition into black at the top (where her head curves into the darkness) could be slightly more like the white curveing into the bottom right corner (i.e. sharper, more defined, narrower, more tonaly inverted reflections of one another), light on her chin really brings the depth out nicely, (and i happen to be rather fond of ears sticking out slightly in this way:)! Guest Guest Posted July 4, 2006 So lovely and gentle light daer Jana and very emotive portrait :) Love the soft gradually blending mixing of the white with black :) Well done dear Jana. Biliana Link to comment
momente 0 Posted November 19, 2006 Hi. Found you by clicking on the "Five" initiative. This portrait is, in my opinion, the best in the series. The intentionally blown highlights on her shoulder is effective and adds to a sensual and subtle mood. I think that this, in itself, makes the shot worthy of attention and praise. Link to comment
