I've been doing mainly 480 pixels wide so that they can be conveniently used on No Words posts (which I think limits in-line photos to 511 pixels). Also, a fair number of my shots are made with dollar cameras and all, where you don't gain that much from a bigger file. In this case, the shadow isn't sharp anyway, due to the nature of the shadow. Extra detail is in the form of the brick pattern, which is there, but not that interesting itself. Perhaps not obvious, this is a shadow on a brick sidewalk, and the shot has been turned upside down to match the way you'd expect the plant to look- which is why the brick looks like it's overhead.
