david robinson 0 Posted July 2, 2006 Don, you caught a bit of magic here. The repeating shapes in the antlers, terrain and sky really makes this image rather special. What a delight to come upon your work. Impressive... Link to comment

carsten_ranke 0 Posted July 5, 2006 As David said, the echo of sky and foreground makes the shot stand out of the crowd. Exposure is spot-on, fantastic cloudscape, natural colors. Just curious: did you arrange the antler there ? Or a fortunate coincidence ? Link to comment
donpaulson 0 Posted July 5, 2006 Thanks for all your comments! Carsten: I found the moose antler close by but moved it to a more photogenic location. After several compositions, both vertical and horizontal, I returned the antler to where I found it... Link to comment
forrest_andrew 0 Posted July 7, 2006 don - just an awesome scene. the shed antler and deep threatening skies seem to convey a sense of nature's power, yet, at the same time, the grandness of the scene seems to impart a soothing feeling. either way, this image clearly has loads to tell. from the looks of the photos, that river trip seems to have been an incredible time. any chance you took a shot of this scene with a lower perspective, perhaps with a vertical composition, one that emphasizes the sky? i just see the potential contrast between the angular white antler and the smooth silky, deep-colored sky being quite appealing. again, awesome shot.
