Midsummer afternoon, full of life...

thank you for any constructive comment.

I like very much this composition, the diagonal arrangement of the women and her personnal position, the tree above her and in the center of the upper third, the balance of the light and shadows. There is only one thing about what I am a bit reserved, this is the shadow of her leg through her bust. You had better to turn the women a little bit in order that the shadow will fall on the grass.

A beautiful ode to life, Jana. The tree works well. I tend to agree with Henri about the shadow though the low sun makes excellent lighting. Possibly a reflector could be used to even out the shadow lighting a little?

This has all the ingredients of a wonderful picture - the idyllic surroundings, the soft grass, the lovely girl, the warm low light, the nicely balanced composition, the absence of un-natural interfering elements (esp. shoes) ... but somehow it doesn't work IMHO quite as well as it should. She just doesn't look like she would be lying in that position spontaneously to enjoy feeling close to nature, only to make the photo. Maybe because her feet are towards the sun (not a way she would feel its warmth on her body), maybe her head being right back on the ground (not usually a comfortable position to rest), maybe she should somehow acknowledge the presence of the photographer - it doesn't seem like a place she should fall asleep and not know someone has wandered up with a camera. I don't know. I love the idea of the shot and wish it could be believable as a "real" situation.

Best wishes, Jonathan

PS: thank you for the feedback. Well for your first exploration of nude photography it is a remarkable achievement - better by far IMHO than many who have been posting pictures of this genre for years (eg the one who said "Nothing to do with art"). So please do not be discouraged by my comment (or any others) - you have an exceptional artistic eye as seen in your landscapes and I hope you will find it an exciting challenge to apply it to this difficult but rewarding subject.

Best wishes, Jonathan
