medievalme 0 Posted July 1, 2006 So beautiful. Was there any work done or was this just what you saw? What a sight to behold. Link to comment
marcadamus 1 Posted July 1, 2006 The sun was low on the horizon. About 45 minutes from sunset and quite warm, but this is more vibrant than what was actually seen at the time of capture. The saturation was selectively increased. Addionally, some corrective dodge/burning and fine tuning of contrasts were performed on the image. There were no manipulations of actual subject matter. glenn traver 0 Posted July 1, 2006 Nice Marc, beams from above and from below, very good vertical landscape with the beams lighting up the distance hills and the abundance of blooming white flowers, beautiful place~ GT Link to comment
jcmellen 0 Posted July 1, 2006 Absolutely perfect. I hope that i can someday produce quality like this. I know ratings mean little...but its disappointing not to give this a perfect 7/7 Link to comment
newfocus 0 Posted July 1, 2006 This one really caught my attention. Great control of the contrast and the unusual plants in the foreground give it some real interest. Top marks. John. Link to comment
jonmichael 0 Posted July 2, 2006 Great shot again Mark. I just got back from a trip up to oregon and you have some of the best sunsets I have ever seen. Link to comment
kahkityoong 0 Posted July 3, 2006 Incredible light. I don't know how you expose so well for such wide contrasts. Yes, I see obvious signs of burning/dodge and you used an ND. Even so, with sun almost in view I am astounded how well the foreground has turned out. Link to comment
marcadamus 1 Posted July 3, 2006 If you don't mind me asking, where is it you think you can see obvious dodge/burning? The sunburst is real and any accentuation of it was extremely minor. I did bring out the highlights (but not too much) in a few other areas. Maybe I'll have to go back and fine-tune it a bit more if it's noticable. Link to comment
kahkityoong 0 Posted July 4, 2006 Marc I use the highlight/shadow tool a lot in similar situations. It is essential to control the highlights in sunburst situations. I just recognized the effect on the clouds to the the left of the sunburst of this PS tool which become more defined and stringy looking. I don't mean this as a criticism of your use of shadow/highlights, just an observation. I think you postcapture work here is spot-on. By the way thanks for recommending Rowell's book Mountain Light on your other website. Fantastic reading and photos. Link to comment
carsten_ranke 0 Posted July 5, 2006 Magic light, almost unreal the 3 stops difference in upper/ lower part, but it works, turns me on. Highly successful, hats off ! Link to comment
Fishermang 0 Posted July 10, 2006 Definetly a worthy landscape photo! The flowers are rare, and meet well with the sunset's colours. The sunset itself is very spectacular. This lives up to the standard of your gallery :) Link to comment
