erwin1 0 Posted June 29, 2006 From the series : http://www.photo-erwin.com/gallery.asp?gallery_id=1802& I today start a new series on PN. The title is : The Schuman Avenue. Robert Schumans declaration of May 9th 1950 lead to the creation of what is now the European Union (R. Schuman was the then French Minister of Foreign Affairs). The Schuman Avenue is a virtual avenue which symbolises here the complex of more than 100 buildings in Brussels, concentrated mainly around the existing Rond Point Schuman, where the different European institutions have their offices. It has lead to a strange mix of modern architecture, implemented side to side of historical buildings. Old and new face each other, not always in the best possible way. What I will present you, is how I personally feel about the surrounding, how I perceive it. With the exception of a few, all shots are in black and white. You will recognize however certain style elements also present in Fragments of the Provence : tendency towards the abstract, underlining textures and lines. Looking for the beauty in things. Please follow me on my trip in this Avenue. Link to comment
