#1 Grandson

LenMarriott

Handheld f 5.6 @ 1\60 sec. Main, Vivitar 283 on manual & through 42" umbrella. Hair\back light, Vivitar 283 on Auto, one stop under. White reflector card, camera right. Scrap from fabric shop for background & piece of velvet on table. Originally in colour, light pollution of the subject from a forgotten overhead flourscent fixture prompted me to convert to B&W.

This must be where all the grandparents chime in. Nicely done, Len and it looks like the subject was a little more cooperative than yourlast one.

Thanks for both your comments. Yes, Grandparenting is mostly a very rewarding experience. In this case everything just came together. I have about a dozen other previous shot from this same shoot that will be filed in the trash can for a variety of reasons but this one's a keeper. Best, LM.

great shot - could be 1950s or day before yesterday

reminds me of my past - I interviewed for and got but did not take a job as a travelling baby photographer - driving around to various shopping centres - a road not taken, right after escaping from university in 1977

Bill, Thanks for the validation. As for your lost career: things usually happen for a reason. Getting turned down for a job is disappointing at the time but probably the best thing for you on reflection. :-) Best, LM.

While waiting for Grandpa to adjust the lights & camera settings my

3 yr. old subject assumed this classic pose. Luckily I noticed this

in time and pressed the shutter release. The image tops several

others taken duing this session. Luck is Good! Best, LM.

I think that's the key to the best portraits, kids especially, HE assumed it and wasn't made to by Mom/Dad/Grandpa etc.

And of course the really skilled phtographer (that would be you) says "the hell with the instruction book, fire NOW"

Jack, Thanks for your valued input. I was adjusting the aperture at the camera, looked up, and saw what I'd been waiting for. SNAP! Move over Yousuf :-) Best, LM.
