cherlyn 1 Posted June 23, 2006 No time to go outdoor photo shhooting, so dabble a little indoor. Your feedback & guidance most appreciated as my indoor 'studio' shots are not my strong area. I don't know whether you'll find the pounder handle too suspended in air? Your thoughts welcome. http://c12.statcounter.com/counter.php?sc_project=1665291&java=0&security=0463f10f&invisible=1 Link to comment
wogears 186 Posted June 23, 2006 Needs softer light to lower contrast and saturate colors. Link to comment

tilly 0 Posted June 24, 2006 Hi Cherlyn, how are you? talking about studio light, looks like you handle it well, good thought because real life need spice ,by the way thanks again for the frame. best regards. Link to comment
markonestudios 4 Posted June 24, 2006 I like it, Cherlyn. Just wondering whether, as someone else suggested, using softer, more diffuse light can make a good photo even better... Give it a try :)Best regards from Kenya,Mark Link to comment

sarahunderhill 1 Posted June 24, 2006 Rough stone, and delicate 'spices'...good idea. Link to comment
cyrus khamak 0 Posted June 24, 2006 Good subject for a still shot and the texture looks good. To reduce the harshness of the shadow, even placing or holding a white cardboard or paper opposite the source of life would work but a more reflecting material would be better. Link to comment
cherlyn 1 Posted June 24, 2006 Thanks all for your guidance. I made use of natural sunlight from my kitchen windows in the late afternoon for this. Subject is place on the cream tiled kitchen floor. No flash use. I am not good at controlling the light source & reflecting them. So thanks for all your valuable input. I'll learn from them. Link to comment

donnaalbers 0 Posted June 25, 2006 I think this is a good rendition, Cheryln. . . I like the coarse texture, hard lighting, simple form and the touch of color. . very nicely handled. Link to comment
blackdogstudio 1 Posted June 26, 2006 Cherlyn, I love this! Great textures, dramatic lighting and vivid colours. The "recipe" for success! Regards, Kelvin. Link to comment
kahkityoong 0 Posted June 26, 2006 A good idea Cherlyn but as has been pointed out the light is too harsh. On a simpler note, the white inner portion of the frame is not the best for this shot as it blends in the photo too much. Maybe putting a very thin inner black line behind the white will work better. Also the crop at the top is too close to the pestle. I would really like to see you attempt this shot again with the advice from the numerous critiques you have received. It is a good idea that is worth pursuing. Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted June 26, 2006 nice composition and good details. the light could be a tad less harsh, though. Link to comment
