Try to use another light metering (I think you used the "evaluative" mode, but is allways better the "average" mode and in some cases the "spot" mode). However, the best thing is to underexpose it a bit, but for a better result you should use some light filters. I can`t afford a filter, I don`t even have a prosumer camera, but I know they make miracles! Link to comment

I can't afford filters and what not at this point either, but as I get more and more involved with photography, I'll certainly do "my homework" with the technicle stuff and take advantage of the "miracles" that technology has to offer.
