I guess the model liked this image! I found it on her own website. I wonder if anyone on P.N likes it.

Feedback appreciated!

david,

I like how you deviate from the classical paths of photography. That is the real talent !

Not quite seeing enough of her face for my taste. I'd like to see at least one eye. That's just my opinion.

I got a strong sense of familiarity with this image... puzzled untill I realised the resemblence to the classic optical illusion that flips between an old crone and a beautiful young lady.

Cheers Ian

I'd prefer to see a little more of her face. And I could do without the white strap peeking out of her right shoulder.

Erwin, Your comment comes as no surprise. Many people say I am a deviant. Just joking. Thanks a lot!

Edwin, Thanks, I am not sure if you are referring to the girl or photograph.

Pat, Opinions are why I post my pictures here. Yours is appreciated.

Ian, I am familiar with the illusion but do not fully understand how it applies to this image although for some strange reason, I feel I know what you mean.

Teru, Much of what I said to Pat applies to you. Your point about the white strap is noted.

Thanks everyone! If you want to see more of this model's face you can always look here.

David nice job on the hard crop. Makes all the difference. Love the composition choice.

Maybe you should have moved the camera a little to the left? Joking obviously David! I like a part-image inasmuch as it shows something distinctive which makes the subject recognisable. Is it really the case here? But that's me, others may see it as a graphic design, and why not. As you know, I used this approach with figure studies awhile back, cutting things out, leaving others in. Didn't you find it a little weird at the time? Anyway, my premise remains that it works (for me) if what remains in view is both strong and characteristic of the subject. If the jewelry in this shot was a little more distinctive, I could well imagine a caption to the left advertising it. I am not kicking your shot. It merits all this discussion.

Kent, The hard crop is just a bit too hard for some but obviously not for you (or me.) Thanks a lot!

John, I can't imagine you would rather see a white wall than a pretty girl but maybe you are changing! We have discussed the cutting off of limbs etc many times. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. The times I have commented negatively is because I didn't like it in that particular instance. In the case of this photograph I would acknowledge that for some, I have cut off a bit too much.

I am glad you think this shot merits discussion!

Nice idea, I'm imagining myself at a cocktail party, being bored rigid and finding my eyes wandering.

I love the idea of this image but there has been something about it that was bothering me and I just figured it out, it is the hint of a shadow just above her right shoulder. It is not a big deal probably to anybody else but those are my two cents worth. The earring works well as does the red dress and the hint of the white bra strap.

David, it reminds me of the Roy Orbison song "She's a mystery girl". Can't explain why but I like the photo.

Ben, As long as there are cocktails at a cocktail party, I am never bored. Seriously, I understand why this photograph makes you think this. I appreciate you taking the time to comment.

Owen, Being honest, I am not sure if I like the shadow or not. If you look at it closely it does give a hint as to where the picture was taken but other than that, I don't know if it has any significance. It is interesting that you say you like the hint of bra strap. I can understand why people don't like it but not sure why others do. Perhaps it adds a hint of colour contrast to the image.

Neil, I find your comment amusing. (In a good way!) I am not sure why anyone would post a comment about a correlation that they didn't understand. Having said that said, I am very glad you did!

David, I phrased my comment badly. What I meant to say was that I can't explain why I like the photo, not why it reminds me of Roy Orbinson's song. Regards, Neil

Hey Neil, If you like this photo because it reminds you of a Roy Orbison song OR you simply like the photo... I am happy.

Thanks for taking the time!

PS I assume you like the Roy Orbison song!
