bdeltoro 0 Posted June 13, 2006 Nice photo, but i think it would have been better if you had set it a little off balance, instead of having everthing so centered. Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted June 13, 2006 I'll jump on the off-center bandwagon. I would do a crop to center the head and give the guy a little space in front of him. Nice dof and subtle background colors. Link to comment
bentes_world 0 Posted June 13, 2006 It's a beautiful place to be on top at for little Skipper. Sharp, clear colors and nice in the details. I like the belt of green/blue as bottom for the black background. You know what you are doing when you are composing a photo!!! Link to comment
donnaalbers 0 Posted June 14, 2006 Thank you everyone for taking the time to comment. . . since coneflowers tend to grow very straight and very erect, it's difficult to work with a composition that isn't linear. . and since I'm only working with, in essence, one subject, it seemed most natural to place it in the center of the image and to build the image vertically. . . kslonaker 0 Posted June 14, 2006 I disagree with the comments wanting this off-center. Sometimes symmetry or balance works well, as it does here. Donna, you are getting some great macro shots! I love the lighting and color in this one. Link to comment
donnaalbers 0 Posted June 14, 2006 Thanks Kim, this is a shot I took three years ago. . .I was trying to clean up my files when I found this one . . .I guess that's the curse of digital. . .too many files! Link to comment
pnital 36 Posted June 14, 2006 Donna, that one made me smile looking at the "layers" to the height... it is a beautiful Macro, composition, and good DOF. Link to comment
ljk 0 Posted June 18, 2006 I too like the pyramid layering. and the way it is all backed by the black. Very nice! Link to comment
abintraphoto 0 Posted June 18, 2006 Good Lord that looks like a comfy place to perch ... ! ... Reserve me one of those Donna. Excellent job - Dof and the chosen background ...... Easily the best shot of an ordinary moth I've ever seen. Usually the insect steals the show in shots like this - but your composition and knowledge of your craft steal the show in this one.
