stevespencer 0 Posted June 12, 2006 I think the softening applied is perfectly alright for an idealized image such as a formal portrait, or professional fashion shot, or just because the client or photographer wants to achieve that perfect look. Now, it should also be applied to her hand, after you clone out the scratches on her knuckles (I'm not being facetious, we concentrate on the face so much we forget other details sometimes). The composition of this is good, although I'm not sure the hand position is graceful enough. I can't tell on my monitor if there is sufficient detail in the dark areas so I won't comment other than they look pretty dark. Skin tone is excellent - very natural. Focus and dof are just right. Facial makeup is very well done. The hairlight is good, and might even be a little more, but it serves to separate the subject from the background well.
