i like the way the girl is so entertained by the charachatures, and how the pattern on her stroller repeats the pattern of the artwork. i find the crop of the mom disturbing though. i hope you take no offense...i would like to offer an alternative crop here.

I rather prefer Bob's crop ... it adds to the image's flavor of the bizarre.

I see what you're saying Linda, but must agree with David. I think the crop as it is takes this scene to a different level.

i take back my earlier suggestion of a different crop. although i still find the decapitation unsettling, i keep coming back and imagine trying on one of the heads from the charachatures.

you play some very interesting "tricks" indeed...this is great because it forces the viewer to think about viewing, both the child subject's viewing and the viewer's viewing of both she and her mom. and the pleasure both the child and viewer gets from what he/she sees. the crop is perfect, because the portraits exaggerate or are exclusively faces, and mom is is faceless.
