Beauty of the animal feels very strong because the photo is so simple. Legs in just right position.

unbelievably difficult to put a deer in front of anything but brush.

Not very often this opportunity presents itself. Good job capturing it.

Although this was probably a cool moment to experience, I'm afraid this picture doesn't work effectively. I could live with the deer being unsharp better if the horizon/plants/background were also not sharp. So, I'd say this is close but not quite. Nonetheless, you're out at the right time and it'll start to work...

 

I think Indian Summer in your portfolio is technically a better capture of this kind of lighting. Enjoy.

i totally agree with your comments. but- i gotta' say- man, is it difficult to get a good shot of a wild deer. i totally respect the animal pro's much more after spending a few weekends low-crawling thru the brush.

Rob - Quite right. Checking out the work of Thomas Mangelsen or Frans Lanting blows my mind. I know I don't have the time (or, probably, the patience) necessary to get wildlife shots like that. I'm impressed enough that you were crawling around in the muck working at getting a good - and somewhat different - shot of a deer.
