Brilliant shot. Lighting and colouration are great. your effects work so well with this image Clive

I think indeed that even without the effect, this shot would be top notch !

the effect in the background is unfortunate choice - just blurring should be more appropriate. But the subject is very well captured

Thanks to all of you, PN friends, for your comments. I am happy to see that different opinions are expressed regarding the effect, this is precisely what I hoped, to get a real feedback. I understand people that don't like the effect, and would prefer an unmanipulated shot...this shot exists in my portfolio, unmanipulated. Therefore I wanted to explore other ways, i have tried to isolated the subject much further than a simple blur that often turns out to be a poor compensation for an unwanted too large DOF. This is a trial, in my mind (not perfect for sure !) to get closer to a panting presentation of sports, closer to an illustration, nevertheless keeping the main subject unmanipulated and real in a surreal environment, trying to show the very heart of action...that's a try and your advices are precious...thanks!

I like both versions but this one does seperate the subject from the background better. I think it would work better if the horse and rider appeared to be coming from the center of the circle. Sort of like emerging from a tornado.

A version with a blurred and darker background may satisfy those that don't like this one. Great shot, great folder.

Wow! Jean Pierre: The original and this image are amazing - each have their own perspective and feel. This artistic isolation emphasizes the moment -and- the intense power and motion of both the rider and horse. Your execution in photography and creative impression are excellent. Nice and clean - very impressive to say the least. The houses in the original were somewhat distracting when you compare. You cannot always remove what's there as it is all part of the event. But, you have gone the next step ... and created a work of art. Amazing work ... 7!:7!

...this is what usually rises to the top here a P.net.

It seems the closer one can get to an Elvis painting on black velvet, the better. BTW, is this STILL photography?

The position of the horse and rider is not particularly interesting, and the overphotoshopping gives the image a confusing and overmanipulated impression. The dominant part in this image really appears to be the chest of the horse and the sole of the rider's boot. Its just too much photoshop and too little photography.

I think the effect wors really well, apart from as a backgroundto the horse and the rider's right legs. Perhaps adding a bit of blurring now you've got a sense of mvement into the background.

Great photo!
