I came across this sink hole in Death Valley this past March. It was about six feet across

and twelve to fifteen feet deep, and entirely surrounded on the sides and bottom with salt

crystals. Salt crystals formed and swirled slowly on the surface of the clear greenish water

that filled the hole to within five or six inches of its rim. I had never seen or heard of such

a phenomena in Death Valley before, and I couldn't resist returning pre-dawn on several

mornings to photograph it.

Thanks,

Justin

Excellent documentary shot. Thanks for showing us this sink hole. I have never seen one. You have a good background sunrise to put this place within the said area. It actually looks like a hole in the ice to me.

Phenomenal photo. Compostionally and technically impeccable. The pool separates this image from traditional death valley/landscape shots.

Justin this is a fascinating image, especially after reading your technical details. Why didn?t you use ND instead of the black card? Excellent image. - Sean
