Yorkshire moors (3)

A day between some weeks with rainfalls, just like in the novel (Emily

Bronte: Wuthering Heights) - this was the one I was fortunate enough

to be able to do a walking tour in the Yorkshire moors.

 

I hope this photo I have taken transmits more or less the feelings.

Maria, hello again. I can see that you have made an effort to rescue this sky, but unfortunately in skies where the highlights are blown this significantly, rescue is most often impossible. I have a couple of questions for you. Are you shooting RAW and are you bracketing your shots? I will be happy to help you with this issue. You may want to email me with your response and I can provide additional details if you wish. I'll include an example of an image where the bright sky is preserved as well as foreground details. Here the image is a composite of two identical images with different exposure settings, one for the sky and one for the foreground.

I've learned something since, now I look not to take photos when the sun is in the front (ie photograph westwards in the morning and eastwars in the evening, then I have a nice blue sky).

 

It seems to me that your photo is far from anything what I could achieve through post-processing, am I right?

Maria, you should be able to acheive this level in your post processing once you begin to blend two exposures. In this shot of yours, if you had a second image of this identical scene but underexposed to capture the sky, you could blend the two images to get the sky and the foreground exposed properly. It really is much simpler than you think. Did you read the article I referred you to. Try it. Do you have Photoshop software? If not go out and take your two exposures and email them to me. I will show you.

Well, then for these images nothing can be done :( I thought it could. Who knows when I'll go again to Yorkshire, visa adventure included.

 

I am sometimes taking two photos of the same subject, now, with the digital camera: one with night type of light and one with auto, with many times switches on the flash.
