Yes, I know, I caught a piece of the reflection. No, I didn't use a polarising filter. No, I have no idea WHY I didn't use a polarising filter. Ugh!!

Now that I've answered your immediate questions.... My previous four images were *of* the London Eye. Now a few that were taken while *on* the London Eye. :-) This is actually a significant crop from a much wider image. Although the sky was nice that day and in this image, I thought it was stronger to really narrow in on the buildings in question.

You can also see a tiny bit of the corner of Westminster Abby on the right. Colin might be able to point out some other buildings for us.

Oh, wow!!! this is an excellent shot! Lou Ann, did you actually do it from the London Eye that you showed us on the previous shots?

I am loving this picture!

I'm glad that you're so excited about this picture, Vi. It's so far from my usual stuff that I have no idea if it's good or not, and the ratings are so scattered that it's hard to tell. Yes, I really did take this from the London Eye that you saw in the last few shots. You really ought to visit London and ride the Eye. It's simply fabulous for getting shots like this (although expensive ... I think that it's about #11 for the ride, which lasts about 30 minutes!!) (I couldn't get my GBP symbol to work on the comment text...)

This works well, Lou Ann! I found it really tricky getting any shots from the Eye without also getting loads of reflections - and that was with a polariser. I like the strong diagonal and the verticals.

Colin - so glad that you've come to see my pictures of your hometown! :-)

It may have had more to do with where the sun was in the sky (I was one of the first pods around when it opened that morning) as well as my position in the wheel at the time (if I remember correctly, we were about 75% of the way around at this point, so about 9:00 if you're looking at it from the south bank). Most of my photos from this time are without much reflection, but my photos from the 3:00 or 12:00 position are completely obscured with reflection and haze. I have a shot of the Swiss RE building and it's horrible! The perspective on it would be GREAT, but the haze and reflection make it virtually unsalvageable!

Lou Ann, don't pay much attention to the ratings. I sometimes get bewildered when on my good shots (or so I perceive them) i get a range between 3/3 and 7/7. Who the hell knows how good it is? I prefer hearing the comments instead :)

London is not too far... I should be able to get there (having saved some money for the trip, that is :)), and ride that London Eye. I mean, how many Eyes one can _ride_ in one's life?! ;))

Lou Ann, I think you took a good angle here. The smooth quiet brown part to the left, enhances and ballances the busy side of the city. good color range . Well rendered.

please dont call our mighty river the smooth quiet brown LOL. Lou Ann this is a fantastic shot, and i have a little tip for all those people out there who have the problem of reflections off of windows. get a piece of foam similar to the stuff found in the bottom of camera cases ie the ones that come with a diced middle bit. cut it into a circle about a foot across and then cut a hole in the middle just slightly smaller than your lens. place it over the end of your lens and then get close to the glass and voila the perfect shade for reflections that you can scrunch up and put in your pocket or camera bag that weighs almost nothing.
