Mike Marcotte 49,923 Posted May 14, 2006 Thanks Edmundo. It was an accident. The shutter was open almost too long & the walker almost disappeared. Thanks for the comment. Link to comment
kentb2 0 Posted May 14, 2006 Wow! Really impressive. The alignment of everything is amazing. A very well seen and timed image. Love the One Way sign lining up under the 4th light and the expansive black on the upper 2/3rds. So good. Link to comment
salvatore.mele 1 Posted May 17, 2006 If the ghost was an accident, that's a good case of serendipity! I have been toying with the idea of restricting the image to a vertical re-interpretation of the right-hand side... but then came to like the two left-hand side spots of light, suggesting the evolution of the walker deeply against the suggestion of the sign. What a shot! Link to comment

billtootell 0 Posted March 18, 2007 Everything works in this picture. It's beautiful and intriguing; the intrigue coming primarily from the "ghost" character. The ghost makes the image more challenging for the viewer because it's not immediately clear that it's a real person. It may have been serendipity but it's also very nice work. Link to comment
pduffy1 1 Posted September 29, 2007 I can picture this in a gallery. Any rating below a 6 is jealousy. Link to comment
mark_starr 0 Posted December 24, 2008 This is one of many, many excellent shots in your gallery. The geometry in this image is fantastic, and I love the fact that the clear sign showing the one and only way is actively undercut by the person walking in the other direction. Life's paths can not simply be reduced to black and white in this case. Evidently, there are at least two ways. Great shot, and great black and white work as well. Mark Link to comment
suriname 0 Posted July 13, 2009 I can not resist front of this one as same many of your other fantastic shoots but here the lights, symmetry, geometry, blurry silhouette of visitor and the opposite direction of "ONE WAY" sign are just magnificent. Congratulations. Friendly Regards, Ertugrul Link to comment
mark_q 0 Posted October 25, 2010 I have a soft spot for this kind of photos in my mind. The well composed simple but effective scene with repeating geometric elements, and then this precious moment of a pedestrian in motion blur. Besides the obvious good points I'd mention details I appreciate here:That lighter horizontal section in the middle of the road is a valuable strenghtening element giving continuity to the "drift" towards left. Without it I'm afraid this scene had been too divided into potlighted sections, as the thin line on the root of the wall were a tad too weak for that effect. You got that pedestrian captured in perfect moment. Now her/his legs are creating a "V" mimicing the shape of spotlights. Just a bit later and only one standing leg visible, and thus one valuable diagonal element less. Link to comment
Mike Marcotte 49,923 Posted October 27, 2010 Thanks for that detailed critique. It was nice of you to take the time. I'm not often on the receiving end of those. I was indeed lucky to have someone walk through this scene. A man had just gotten off a bus & walked passed here answering my prayer. Again, thanks for stopping. Link to comment
elportebonheur 0 Posted March 23, 2012 Excellent and attractive night shot as such. To capture the movement of that person and express this movement (against the flow) in the photograph is great cinema. Chapeau! Link to comment
