nice pic Emily. i can offer a few tips. your angle is good but you want the flower leading the eye into the frame not out of it. the flower should be placed more to the left in this case. also, try not to cut off any petals as the uppermost edge is lost. the black bit at the bottom right is distracting. if you moved a step to your right, it would be out of the pic. and lastly, a bit of sharpening would help.

 

keep shooting, your eagerness to improve will drive you through practice. i've learned a lot in my first year (next month) and still have a long way to go. passion is the key and you have it. cheers...

which was made from an even lower angle.

Having only the sky in the background simplifies my flower image.

Maybe you'll go for a lower angle next time!
