Great shot, Walter, but in my opinion that frame doesn't do it justice. In fact, I daresay it detracts from the richness of the image. I'd lose it if I were you ;)

Best regards from Kenya,

Mark :]

There we go; very nice composition and execution. The colors are very nice, not overly saturated, very pleasing. I doubt I will ever take my 55 lens off, at it has become my favorite lens. Your scan looks very clean with some nice detail in the foreground. The scanning is causing me problems as I'm having trouble finding a company to scan my slides. Very nice image Walter! - Sean

Thanks Sean; I understand about that 55, it's a great lens. You are going to have to buy an MF scanner one of these days, it might as well be now. I really like my Minolta DSMP. You might be able to still locate a new one somewhere. If you do go that way, buy a spare lamp from B&H. Of course, there is always the Nikon 9000 (winning the Lottery would be nice too!). I am myself looking for something to scan my 4x5's. The new Epson V750 looks pretty interesting.

Regards to all.

Very nice, Walter; I love these great depth of field shots. I guessed correctly on the grad ND filter, but not on the fill flash -- very nicely done. It's images like this where film shows its strengths over digital - the sunlit clouds have very smooth gradations.

Gorgeous. 1/3 top frame with sky, lots of distinct colors, and a DOF that lends for yet another WT 3-D eye-popper. Really nice!

What often impresses me is your ability to "see" these scenes. As I think I've mentioned, landscapes are what I'd really like to be doing - I just walk right past scenes like this, though, blind to them.

Walter, this is a beautiful shot. The lighting, colors, and sharpness are right on. The detail in the foreground perfectly balances out the pretty sky. Nice shot!

to Steve, Chris, Bob, Dave, Cam, and last but never least, Rajeev. If I were to be critical of this shot myself I would say that I would have liked to have more light on the small rise to the right at midground. Turning a few degrees to the right with my flash gun would have solved that issue.

Walter, I'll have to disagree with your personal nit pik on this photo. I think that darker area (mid right) adds dimension to the image and keeps it looking natural rather than flashed. You've inspired me to try using flash fill on some of my seascape images. This is really beautiful.

Thanks Laurie. Be forewarned, the flash that I used has a GN of 340 at ISO 50! I think the FDA, OSHA, or whoever, stopped its manufacture because it was hazardous to the photog using it; when it ignites you can actually hear it frying. Clumsy idiot that I am, I've burned myself quite badly using it.

Walter, beautiful image, I personally like the darker area upper right as it adds distance to the photo. I just returned from 10 days in Michigan, beautiful country. Sondra
