A current (in 1963) Canadian Postage stamp.

LenMarriott

One of our assignments during our 3 day course at the Leica School, Wetzlar, in Nov.1963. Copied with current (in 1963) Leica equipment. M2, bellows, visoflex housing, etc. Unsure of which lens was used.

Another from my "Leica School, Nov., 1963" folder where 47 others

await your viewing pleasure. This shot of a then current Canadian

Postage Stamp was one of the projects delegated to us during the 3

day course. Most of the others were from an afternoon walking tour

of Wetzlar, Germany. Comments\opinions will be gratefully received.

Enjoy! Best, LM.

Jan, Thanks for happening by. As for the intricate details, I think that was what the folks at Leica would like for us to notice:-) If you look very closely at the print at the bottom right, under the word 'POSTAGE', you will see the date of issue for this stamp, that is, 1954, still a current stamp in 1963. Yah, & when was the last time you posted a letter for 2 cents? Best, LM.

In the year 1969 I only had a Russian Smena 8 with 40mm lens which could only focus to 1,2m close. With no thread to attach anything on it and no possibilities to control the sharpness except to adjust the focus to the estimated focusing distance! And I still managed to do macros (like this one) in my darkroom using the enlarger instead. I simply put a piece of film in the negative carrier, folded the carrier with a towel and passed over the object with the enlarger bulb. How about that? I was only 14 years old then and there was nobody to advise me about anything!

You had to work to dig this one out.  Much appreciated.  It's amazing what we can accomplish with a minimum of equipment and a maximum of determination.  The equipment I did this one could probably have bought & sold me.  (probably a few times over in 1963)  :-)  Lucky for me that Leica was providing the goodies.  Nice memento from the 'Macro' lesson at the Leica School.  Best, LM.
