German soldier & son.

LenMarriott

Spotted in a cafe during a coffee break while wandering Wetzlar with other Leica School students and instructor. A Leitz meter determined the exposure on Plus-X film(probably 1/8 or 1/15 @ about f2.8) and camera prefocused & propped on table top for steadiness.

Antonio, Sitting in a coffee shop in 1963 with German soldiers or being on manuvers with them didn't seem strange at the time because I was not part of the generation that fought against them, and most of them, being born during or after the war, had missed WWll too. Our current 'enemies' will likely be allies in 20 years. I'm happy I had the opportunity to be over there in peace time. Best, LM.

Thanks for taking the time. These photos were taken with a borrowed (Leica School) Leica M2. The only time I ever used one. Never found myself with enough spare cash to own one. Had to persue my hobby with lesser instruments. As with you, perhaps I'll own one someday!!! :-) Still, I have to say, I don't think your offerings here on Photo.net have suffered much from the lack of one of these jewels. Best, LM.
