graneenie 571 Posted May 13, 2006 Very interesting shot that really tells a story! I wonder if the headstone could be dodged a bit to show the writing more. Link to comment
msicard 0 Posted May 13, 2006 Not all images are worth a thousand words... Yours shure is ! Just suggesting: a little less dept of field and a shot taken more at ground level could, in my opinion, improve the aesthetics. (5 and 7) Link to comment
joanbn 0 Posted June 2, 2006 An interesting photo. Would like to know more about it. Why is the flag so tattered? Link to comment

bosshogg 4 Posted July 7, 2006 I, too, really like this photo. I find myself in agreement with some of the commentary about a little less depth of field, and as a matter of my personal taste, I would have tried to lighten up the stone a little bit. I realize that you may have considered and rejected that idea. Nevertheless, I hope you will forgive me taking the liberty of attaching my concept of the image. At any rate, you have an excellent image here. Link to comment
lesa jones 0 Posted July 8, 2006 Thank you so much Jeanne, Matthieu, Joan, Tina, and of course David. I am thankful to all of you for comments and suggestions regarding this image. David I love your ideas. A little history about this image is probably appropriate for many to understand how it came to be. While shooting in this very old cemetary, in a very remote part of Alabama, I had seen this headstone and flag. I passed by it many times, and finally as I was getting into my vehicle, that "gut" feeling just told me to take the shot. It was totally spontaneous with no forethought of DOF, etc. I took two shots, and the only reason I chose this particular one, was because the wind had the flag more outstretched. I really didn't give any thought to post processing either as It sort of went against all the factors of how the image came to be. This is one of my personal favorites not only because of it's symbolic imagery, but because of it's absolute purity in coming to be. I appreciate all your suggestions, and continue to learn from all the wonderful members who take the time to share their knowledge. Again thank you so much, to all of you...Regards....LJ Link to comment
