Great composition and my favorite subject, Reflections. I like the perspective that you have achieved with the lady as a somber figure in relation to the courtyard and the reflection of the upper part of the building that you have captured in the water puddle is excellent.

Well done, as usual. Ciao.

great composition and details. I like the subject also; very beautiful. though, unfortunately, dont expect to get high ratings or the desired attention for such shots here @ photo.net.

As an tourist who doens't speak Turkish I've got a lot of respect for this shot. I've done some street stuff in Istanbul and have found that these ladies absolutely do not like to have their pictures taken. Especially in the Fatih area. Usually, direct eye contact and a smile, just before I lift the camera is my way of asking permission. But there it doesn't work, and I've even had guys come up and politely but firmly ask me not to take pictures of the women. I don't want to be disrespectful, cause problems or make others too uncomfortable, so eventually I backed off.

What are your thoughts or how do you handle this?

To Patrick: if you were on an occidental country, taking street shots, would you ask for permission all the time? impossible, all the great streets shots would be missed... So, no matter which country I visit, unless I am taking a direct portrait (not street stuff, which I find rather different), I never ask for permission. Probably my neighbour, here in Madrid, will be as much offended as those women... (to me I see no difference in that sense, after all we, the photographers, are intruders in their daily lives).

But as long as there are no eye contact with the person photographed, for me there is no problem... she/he just happen to be there... other issue, it is if I contact them visually, and they clearly state "no"... them I understand and I don?t take the photo. No problem.

Aside the fact that I find this a first class picture, I wonder about how much "privacy" can we take. Some people are so sensible to this issue that we shoul end up taking only landscapes or astrophotographies. For me there is a hint: any person can be photographed if not shown in a humiliating attitude.

Yo la encuentro perfecta. Sublime. Enorme.
