dusty2004 0 Posted May 7, 2006 Not often can you go wrong with a winter scene. There is a certain beauty all of it's own. What I would like you to do is to get two pieces of white paper. Place one on the sky and the other on the water. Slide them up and down until you find the picture. My thoughts are about one third of the bottom and a little less than two thirds of the top. Tell me what you see. A stunning panorama. Link to comment

dusty2004 0 Posted May 13, 2006 Hello Tony. Please don't confuse my suggestion as an order. It was intended as an excersise. Often, I too was guilty of it, we are afraid to move from the confines of the viewfinder. We can set our own boundaries and should explore those. Rather than be confined to a certain format. Yes, it is important to learn certain fundamental rules. Then to go beyond and explore new ways. As an example. Landscapes do not have to be in the horizontal format. Have you ever shot a fantastic landscape? photgraphed it, only to find the result is nothing as you saw it. We see three dimensional. A picture is flat. We can create the illusion of depth by three simple steps. Foreground, middle and background. Your picture could be improved by finding a suitable foreground. I will probably cop some flak here.I now that sometimes you cannot achieve the results you or me desire. All I want is for you to be aware of it. Believe me you will become a better photographer for it. After all, is this not the reason why we post our pictures. I will earmark your site and certainly look forward to seing more of your work.
