aepelbacher 0 Posted May 3, 2006 Another of my favorites from the Southwest of France. These sunflower fields were EVERYWHERE!! It was SO COOL to drive by a field of them in the morning and they were facing one way and to drive past the same field in the afternoon and they were facing a different direction. The city girl in me is so fascinated that they actually DO follow the sun. I don't know if you'll like the way I did the focus ... there are a few plants in the very middle that are in focus, but I like that the closer ones are a bit softer and the ones farther away are almost completely blurry. Thoughts? Link to comment
kleintje 0 Posted May 4, 2006 A beautiful capture, full of colour and forms! The focus didn't really bother me as it leads your eye on a discovery deeper into the image and back again. Though I'm having a bit of a problem with the fact that the foreground is darker than the background, which in the end leads my eye to the (OOF) background. Maybe this could be solved by brightening up the foreground a little bit? Link to comment
aepelbacher 0 Posted May 4, 2006 Interesting, Ilse ... I hadn't noticed that, and now I see that it's totally true! I'm not sure I'm good enough to actually brighten the foreground. I absolutely have to work on my PS skills this summer!! Link to comment
kslonaker 0 Posted May 5, 2006 Definitely one of those images your eyes want to move around within, even though it's all the same subject. Interesting shot, Lou Ann. Link to comment
sondra kick 0 Posted May 8, 2006 Interesting image, I love fields of flowers. IMHO the flowers need to be in focus in the foreground and then fade. That's just my opinion though. Sondra Link to comment
cherlyn 1 Posted May 10, 2006 Lucky you to be have a field of sunflowers. Not here in my country. Surprisingly the out of focus is a charm here as it leads my eye fm fg to the middle ( which to me appears slightly sharper) , then to the bg of lightl. Nice one, Lou Ann. Link to comment
aepelbacher 0 Posted May 10, 2006 Thanks, Cherlyn! This is actually not my country ... it was taken during a visit to France last summer (2005). In fact, where I live (in the Washington, DC area) the only "fields" I usually see are either sports fields ... or "fields" of pavement for miles and miles and miles. Thanks again for your visit. afterthoughts 0 Posted May 10, 2006 It is amazing when you think about it. This image was made in France but could have been made in Oregon, USA. Link to comment
MichaelChang 12 Posted May 15, 2006 Hi Lou Ann, Helicon Focus is a nice piece of software which might be useful for scenes such as this. Alternatively, a $10,000 camera! :-) Link to comment
ljk 0 Posted May 15, 2006 Lou Ann...I relally like this! What makes it striking of course, is the lighting dividing two halves of the image. Nice work! Link to comment
home page1 0 Posted May 16, 2006 Lou Ann, even without sharp focus, this has a nice overall and somewhat abstract effect. Link to comment
donnaalbers 0 Posted June 1, 2006 Hi Lou Ann, What a beautiful field of sunflowers! . . .great lighting and colors. . I think the fact that the focus is in the middle is ok. . . it gives the eye a different vantage point from which to roam. Link to comment
susan stone 0 Posted October 4, 2006 Not only do I like the image but I've been pondering the title and how it relates to you, you are a traveling gal I gather from all the countries represented in your folders....you are "following the sun". I like how all the sunflowers are paying homage to their namesake. A "crowd" of sun worshipers. Link to comment
aepelbacher 0 Posted October 4, 2006 Thanks for the comment, Susan - I DO love to travel. I think that you were writing this comment when I was typing you an e-mail. :-) It was THE coolest thing to drive by these sunflowers at different times of the day and see them facing different directions en masse. Wild!!! Link to comment
sallycd 0 Posted February 7, 2007 I missed the full bloom of these when we passed this way in Sept.1998.At that time these were spent already. I regreted though for not taking a memory of that. My cousin went around July and she got a lot of these sunflower fields pics. Thanks for sharing. Link to comment
