Swinging up

She went up in the rig of the sailboat we were sailing around Sicily

to get something fixed... and then decided to have some additional fun

swinging around. I like the play of light and shadows... what about you?

That's a great composition. Without the presence of those two sections of cable or pole, you would have a straightforward capture, but what a difference they make. Well done.

Leigh, thanks. Using the furled genoa and the shroud to "frame" the swing was exactly my idea, both from a compositional point of view and a chromatic one: they go well with the gray/silver of her shoes and the harness, as well as the red halyard she's hanging from goes well with the chair and the fleece.

The feeling of being suspended in the air between sky and earth, holding a single rope with a single hand! is very strong ( I admire her courage!)The two silver ropes are not only compositionaly good, but are hinting that there is more in the upper part as well as in the lower one. Impressive lady and well photographed, Salvatore.

Thanks Pnina. I've many more pictures of that stunt, and might be posting them in the future...but the light on this one was just too good and won hands-down on the others.
