cereinyn 0 Posted May 25, 2006 This image was taken of two best friends. I organized the shoot to explore the metaphors each of them had been using to describe their lives at that time. The girl on the left had said she felt poisonous, like a snake who desperately wanted to learn how to shed her poisonous skin. The other was like a phantom. The Phantom controlled the girl who felt poisonous and condescended to her constantly. As the Snake was painted, it seemed she grew stronger and stronger and as I photographed them interacting in an organic play, a strange narrative unfolded. At the moment of this picture, something changed in their friendship. The snake character never spoke to the phantom again after that night. She made the decision to move to Asia, to do her masters and then she left. I can happily report that when I visited her briefly in the winter, she seemed purer and happier than I had ever known her to be. Link to comment
