rafikrkamel 1 Posted April 29, 2006 Hi alec, this is a very fine shot to me, i love that light really. Great job, would u mind sharing with us the light setup that u use for getting such lovely portraits? IF u can that would be great. You know i have 50mm f/1.8 lens and i have rarely used it although i know it is the sharpest that i own:)welldone again, regards, RK! Link to comment
alecee 0 Posted April 29, 2006 Hi Rafik, I find the 50mm with the X1.6 factor long enough to give flattering portrait shots in an indoor setup. For outdoor shoots an 85mm is much better. This is done indoors with a B&W backdrop and two external flashes (one with umbrella and another bounce) with a 1:3 light ratio. I shoot handheld at 1/125 to 1/250 and F/4 to F/8 depending on the light. Quite straight-forward really, more important is to get the correct angle for the most appealing image. I try to keep PP minimal and play with light to bring out the depth in the image. Okmen, Ali, Sircar, Marcello, Richard, Chaba, Julio, Ben, Radu appreciate your kind coments and those who rated - thank you. Link to comment
rafikrkamel 1 Posted April 29, 2006 Thanks for sharing, u know i use the onboard flash in the d70s as commander and the sb-800 off camera as a slave but never get to master the use of them together, and the manual on that part (advanced operations) seems to be written in a very bad confusing language. Hope u can explain or give me more tips by email on how to master my setup, thanks again and hope i havent bothered u much, best regards, RK! Link to comment

tom l 0 Posted May 1, 2006 Wonderful portrait Alec. I also appreciate the info on your lighting equipment. I would really like to know about the placement of the two flashes you described. How close to the subject did you place each one? Are they high looking down or pretty much eye level with the model? Thanks, Tom Link to comment
tom l 0 Posted May 8, 2006 Alec, thanks for taking the time to look at my portfolio and for the response to my question about your lighting - your portraits are top notch. Link to comment

david_cassidy2 0 Posted June 16, 2006 A terrific portrait with excellent tones and colour. I love the pose. The only *small* critique I would have is that her hair blends in with the dark shadows at the top corner, but that is just a minor point. The image itself is fantastic. Well done. -Davidhttp://gallery.photo.net/photo/4481421-md.jpgShadowMan awaits ... Link to comment
