minicucci 0 Posted April 27, 2006 Robert: Nice variation on the color shot and a really spectacular B&W tonal conversion. Less stylish than the first, this is more classical and perhaps a bit more poignant. Much more about her than her broken arm, which becomes incidental here. I find the framing here to be particularly effective. Reminiscent of Andrew Wyeth's Christina, in some ways. Link to comment
robertbrown 1 Posted April 27, 2006 Patricia, thanks for your very kind remarks--fortunately she's a really happy girl and doesn't let the arm slow her down. I like Wyeth a lot. Thanks. Link to comment
salvatore.mele 1 Posted April 27, 2006 If I had not seen the larger colour version first, I would be raving about this shot. It has lots of mood, it still has the justapoxition of a bit of sadness (thoughfulness?) and exuberance (in the writings and decoration of the cast), it has a pleasent OOF background leading us back to her, it has a perfect framing not too-tight-not-too-wide... in short, that's a great shot. The fact is that the colour larger one was really excellent for me...and this struggles to keep up to that standard. At any rate, let me praise the B&W approach in this one...the pink cast would have been much too much and detracted from the overall mood of the shot. Link to comment

Guest Guest Posted April 28, 2006 My favorite photo of yours - poignant, thoughtful - w/o be ....sappy! We love to think of kids as being simple creatures - they're mostly not. No matter how goofy they act @ home. Further, I don't think the B+W was necessarily necessary - but this crop was. Good job. Landscapes change slower than your kids. More people pix please. frank_p 0 Posted April 29, 2006 Well done portrait, Robert. Captures it all and tells a story! Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted April 29, 2006 The b&w version tells a similar story but in a very different way. I think this one is more direct. The color version more visually complex with layered meaning. If I had to choose one, I'd choose the color version but's it's a tough choice. Link to comment
