aepelbacher 0 Posted April 26, 2006 Biron, France - another of several images of details from this walled castle city in the countryside of the Dordogne region of Southwest France. If you have time, please check out my wide angled image of the whole city: http://www.photo.net/photodb/photo? photo_id=4358461 Thank you for your time, your comments, and your ratings! aepelbacher 0 Posted April 26, 2006 In my first post from Biron, I mentioned that I would be uploading several detail images from this particular Chateau. I really loved all of the nuances in the architecture in this place. The decorative work on the tops of the walls in the castle was wonderful, and the colors of the stones used in all of the buildings worked so well together. It was just a gorgeous place ... and I obviously had a gorgeous day. If you haven't looked at the wide image of the entire city, please check out that previous post. Also, please take a minute to look at some of the other detail images in this same folder. As always, any thoughts or comments or ratings that you have for me are greatly appreciated! Thanks for your time!! Link to comment
sondra kick 0 Posted April 26, 2006 Lou Ann, I prefer the wide angle shot with the hay rolls. Maybe its the farmer in me, since I have always been a city girl, but I love hay rolls. I am always trying to take photos of them. Nicely captured, Sondra Link to comment
colin carron 58,916 Posted April 29, 2006 I prefer the wider angle with the hay bales too. Link to comment
afterthoughts 0 Posted April 30, 2006 Best shot in the group. I mean this in a positive way. Picture post card perfect. Link to comment
kslonaker 0 Posted April 30, 2006 Good detail, color and DOF, Lou Ann. Very pleasing shot. Link to comment
home page1 0 Posted May 2, 2006 Lou Ann, I like this. It has that classic European look with good detail and a very nice sky. You cropped this well. Like Sondra, I find the one with the bales of hay a little more interesting but this one is very appealing too. Link to comment
dens 4 Posted May 2, 2006 Very nice shot, love the blue sky and the way the red roof contrast with it.well done. Link to comment
jayme 0 Posted May 2, 2006 What a beautiful place. It looks like a castle in the sky :) I do prefer the one with the wider angle view, but this one is very nice :) Link to comment
AJHingel 127 Posted May 2, 2006 For me they are both very beautiful photos. This one gives a clear feeling of being there, whereas the wide angle version represents the place. A very good scene to work on. How old is this ? 15-17th century ? Link to comment
aepelbacher 0 Posted May 2, 2006 Good question, Anders. I just did a little Googling, and think that the castle dates back to the XII Century. I found that date on several websites, although we'd be much better off with Michael Chang's fabulous ability to research.... Link to comment
AJHingel 127 Posted May 3, 2006 Yes you are right, I see, the sites and some of the building date back to the time of the Cathares. But as far I see, it is only in the 17 century that it got most of the splendours of what we have in front of our eyes and its decorations. Marvellous scene. Go on sharing. Link to comment
p. easter 0 Posted May 30, 2006 What a gorgeous shot! So realistic you almost expect to see armored knights riding out of the place to raise havoc somewhere or another! You did get some beautiful weather for it too...brought out all those rich colors of rust and what looks like slate. Bravo! Link to comment
Landrum Kelly 64 Posted May 31, 2006 Lou Ann, this is a treasure--definitely one of your best. --Lannie Link to comment
