US Capitol w Cherry Blossoms

vincetylor

I took a one week Washington DC shooting trip a couple years ago during Cherry Blossom week. The goal is to try to make the national landmarks look as nice as possible, while including the popular blossoms whenever possible. I remember working this particular spot very thoroughly; to the point that secret service began questioning me. Made me get out of the trees... As always your opinions are appreciated. Thanks. www.hawaiianphotos.net

Very nice composition and framing. Great blue sky with a very good contrast to the white building.

Great job.

Greetings

This photo is the quintessence of a good -- no, perfect -- photograph.

I have no doubt this would be a big seller if it were placed on postcards and distributed. I can find absolutely nothing to improve about it; only to admire it. If you have a bunch of these with similar quality, you probably should approach a stock agency, if you have not.

I'd send a copy to the Secret Service to place in the jacket with your name on it (doubtless they have one now).

Thanks for the compliments! Actually we will be offering this as a print, John. Though have still not found the right distributor/rep for that area yet. Too many projects in Hawaii at the moment, though am slowly moving forward. I do have enough images to contact the local stock agencies as well. However, I have not even begun that editing/scanning process. This is how life is...

Those secret service guys are some tough nuts to crack. I'd much rather be on their good side though. Aloha.

You were IN the trees???? Of COURSE they gave you a problem. Long before 9/11 they were warning people to not even pick the blossoms ... they get funny if you touch the trees. You crack me up!!

This is gorgeous, Vincent. I know exactly where you were when you took this. The blossoms were gorgeous this year ... and the weather that week was lovely, too. You shoulda been here. :-)

Warm regards!

Now that you mentioned it Lou Anne, that may have been one of the reasons they talked with me too. The other was because they had noticed I was in this particular location for "longer than usual" in their minds, and wanted to know why. This particular shot I do not believe was from being in any tree. I shot many rolls from this area due to the nice angle and lots of blooming trees. Chose this particular shot here however, because the cherry blossoms were in clear focus, I liked the composition against the blue sky, and the flag is discernable, while in many others it was down flat. It may seem like a little thing but I really wanted that flag in the scene with its red white and blue. Which is also why I posted a larger view even though the smaller default is very rough looking.

I did get what I needed, so doubt I will head over there anytime soon. Am years behind with editing as it is... Glad to hear they were going off this year. Hope you took some good ones too. Thanks again for stopping by, your visits are always appreciated. Aloha

When Vincent is back there are no words I can add.

Every shot of yours is worth more than a thousand words.

Best regards, amigo!

Superb, Vincent! Lovely white and pink colors, great framing of the Capitol with the cherry blossoms. Superb sky! 6/6 clearly. Bravo!

I've been away from PN for one month and I couldn't wait to see what the gifted photographers around have come with meanwhile.

I took a few photos while I was away and a couple of them are in my most recent submissions folder. Shall you have the time, I'm anxious as always to know what you think by your ratings and words, if you have a second.

While I might rotate it a couple degrees clockwise to straighten the rotunda, I really can't complain. This is a beautiful photo. The cherry blossoms framing the Capitol make this a unique and interesting depiction of a familiar landmark. I love the bright blue, white, and green.
