Great composition and sunrise but on my monitor it looks like it needs a little more saturation and higher contrast.

Just my 2c worth!

great stuff Don! looks like an incredible location. great balance of color between sky and reflection. i find the subtle colors pleasing and soothing - and i think this jives with the overall feel of the image. i think this could do with perhaps a .5 degree turn counterclockwise - this could be an artifact of the approaching shoreline, but reflection i think the reflection would line up better with the slight adjustment.

I'm with the "tilt-monkeys". Fatntastic colors and mirror-like reflection. Love the silhouetted tree and mountain range... rotate left a couple of degrees and this is a prize-winner. Oh to find a scene like this!! :-)

Beautiful in every aspect. My only nit would be that you didn't include the entire reflection of the tree. You probably were not able to, without inlcuding the shoreline?

Otherwise excellent.

Very nice shot, Don. I like the smooth tones of most of the image that contrast with the sharp starkness of the tree. I also think the color saturation is just fine. I agree with a couple of others that it appears to tilt slightly, although it's hard to tell if that's just an artifact of the shoreline. Even if it is an artifact, I'll bet that most viewers would prefer to see it appear straight. Regarding the reflection of the tree, the feedback I've received on reflections is that most folks want all or none. Frankly, I think yours if fine, but if I were to look for a second perspective it would be to crop most of the reflection, leaving just the tree. Reflections are sometimes hard to come by, and I can hear some folks saying "don't crop," but a wider angle to get the entire reflection may have set the hills too far back. Anyway, those are my comments on a very nice image. I had no idea there was this much water in the vicinity of the John Day Fossil Beds....I've only been to the Painted Hills unit.
