great color tones...path works to focus attention on the old church and the light toned bldgs take away some dreariness

You've made a work of art out of this scene, not despite the absence of light but because of it. The soft, subdued tones and colours make this a dream to look at.

Wonderful shot of the cathedral. I have a few of Wells Cathedral in my gallery as well as Glastonbury Tor which I noticed you also visited. I loved your shot of the Tor as well. Inspiring stuff.

I wonder if it would look better with people closer to the camera?

very nice colors & atmosphere. I think I would crop it just above the first part of the path, with the beige color: that makes the composition simpler and stronger imho.
