pnital 36 Posted April 20, 2006 Continuing the project with a dance group The idea is to follow with the camera the process of a dance choreography development, and relations between the dancers with each other while in the process. Thanks for your thoughts, Pnina Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted April 20, 2006 My comliments for the second time it is just beautiful. Link to comment
cherlyn 1 Posted April 20, 2006 Lovely bg movements as backdrop but not so sure of the fg couple. They look too sharply outlined from the bg & the angle of the man's head & neck a slight funny. Link to comment
pnital 36 Posted April 20, 2006 Cherlyn, that is the movement of the dance( his head and neck and her head), I like that funny movement.... Backdrop is always far behind and they are close to the edge. Thanks for writing your thoughts, it is appreciated .I'm still working on it... Fotios, Thanks for liking it. Pnina Link to comment
cherlyn 1 Posted April 20, 2006 Hmm..thanks for explaining. This also reminds me of one of the scene in movie "Titanic" :-)) Link to comment
pnital 36 Posted April 20, 2006 Cherlyn, why the "Titanic", funny... BTW,I see it as a composition of a dance movement contradiction... Link to comment
aepelbacher 0 Posted April 20, 2006 I love the ghost-dancers in the near and far background. And the expressions on the couple's faces work very well, too. I'm not usually close enough to the stage when I go to the ballet (or whatever dance group) to see expressions... Link to comment
j_m_lee_photography 0 Posted April 21, 2006 Really love the composition and the bg is amazing. Their gesture reminded me of turtle. Very artistic and romantic. Link to comment
atkphotoworks 0 Posted April 21, 2006 Pnina, I like the opposite directions theme happening here. It seems to me that he is a bit blurred and I would have liked a sharper image as to him. I am enjoying the development of this series very much. Link to comment
pnital 36 Posted April 21, 2006 Ray,Lou Ann, Spencer and Amar, thanks for commenting and liking! Amar, as the couple is in a movement I liked it blured as is, Imo the blur while moving is logical, I did not have any intention that it will be very sharp. I took it while he was turning his head, and You will see more movement with a blur attitude... I'm glad and thank you for following it and liking, as you work on the same theme even with different direction and rendition. Pnina Link to comment
seven 0 Posted April 21, 2006 Super composition, Pnina, wonderful movement. Agree that part of me somehow wants a stronger juxtaposition, demanding total sharpness of the fg couple - but I feel that might compromise the liberating sense of movement. I wish the male dancer was just a bit shorter/ lower, I would like my eye to move out to the BG right and rest there, but he draws attention to himself. Tschaikovski in pixels! Link to comment
pnital 36 Posted April 21, 2006 Seven, Thanks! "Tschaikovski in pixels"... that is the most original definition I have recieved so far. About lowering him, if you look again, you will see that it is not only her head on his back but their hands are touching, I did not want to loose that. I think as well that the hands directions are pointing somehow to the bg. Thanks again, Pnina Link to comment
sophiafield 0 Posted April 21, 2006 This is a very powerful image and definitely a great capture of the movements.I do prefer the dancers in the foreground being slightly blurred as you have it, conveying their state of motion, but I do admit that my first natural instinct was wishing them to be sharper. Funny how human minds work... :)Warm Regards,Sophia Link to comment
julio_segura_carmona1 2 Posted April 21, 2006 un bello trabajo tecnico en B/W. magnifico encuadre, saludos cordiales Pnina. Link to comment
alexandra rauh 0 Posted April 22, 2006 Pnina,Great position of the couple, with the lively ,but yet not interfering background. Would make a nice poster. Link to comment
paula grenside 0 Posted April 22, 2006 Pnina, the composition is super: the fading danger look like human veils. The male dancer in front is not 100% sharp as the female dancer is, but it's just a perception looking closer because the image as a whole is really beautiful. Link to comment
alecee 0 Posted April 22, 2006 Nice Pnina, the two dancers managed to freeze enough for you to get them and still retain the blur background of the other dancers. Effective technique. Cheers. Link to comment
pnital 36 Posted April 22, 2006 Appreciate your comments, Sophia, Julio,Alix, Paula and Alec. Thanks Pnina Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted April 22, 2006 She's blissful and trusting, and he looks to guard their closeness. Very moving, and the background is perfect. Wonderful... Link to comment
dguindon 0 Posted April 22, 2006 Very nice Pnina, ghostly figures everywhere! Absolutely moving, especially his reaffirming hand touch.. Link to comment
AJHingel 127 Posted April 23, 2006 Pnina, I like it. It is well seen and well composed. The two layers of the scene, one blured and in strong movement and another, the foreground, more stable, is playing well together due to the framing of the foreground figures by the long bowed form (?) raising up to the centre. I also like the way the two foreground figures are composed with the man in slight movement and the women "keeping him back". I have only two aspects I would question. The folded hands in the very foreground are not in my view adding much to the rest but confuse the spectator. And, secondly, a more technical aspect, the shadow on the face of the women should be lightened away. All together a very expressive scene of dancing. Well done. Looking forward for the next in the series. Anders Link to comment
pnital 36 Posted April 23, 2006 Thanks fot your comments. Anders, "the long bowed form (?) raising up to the centre.", Anders did you mean the backdrop? did not understand what you mean. The hands, it is part of the movement and it is his back( hand) and her forhand, I like it as is ,but you may be right about the shadow on her face, I will see how it looks while removed. Thanks for your detailed comment and observations. Link to comment
