carsten_ranke 0 Posted April 18, 2006 The lead-in curve and the clouds lines converge nicely, again a fortunate and helpful coincidence of sky and land patterns you discovered. The sky tones contain a `ray of hope`, perhaps a first sign of spring... Very good DOF and detail, and your trademark tones ;-) I thought about a sacrifice at the bottom - hope you dont mind :-) CheersCarsten Link to comment
pnital 36 Posted April 23, 2006 David, beautiful harmony between sky and land, I like the streem that takes you in nearly till the vanishing point at the bg left, the only distraction to me is the gray line in the begining that stops the eye there, I would have tried to cloned it out so the enterance turns to be a smooth one( I think it is possible with a lot of work....). Color range is very appealling. A nice addition to your collection. Link to comment
minicucci 0 Posted April 25, 2006 David; While I have a comment about midtone contrast, I admire this photograph. It is quiet, subtle and well put together. I like the full crop, bringing the bottom curve of the rivulet into full view. And I love the variations in tone and texture in the, well, mud. I'd love to know where this in Nisqually. I've been playing with Google Earth and one of the places with reasonably good definition in the database is Nisqually. For example, was The Tension of Rhythms taken in Nisqually Flats? Probably not but through your images, I do feel I know this place. Visiting via Google was almost like a trip to familiar place. Re contrast, I do think the midtones could use some more. And I'd steepen the black and white points just a bit as well (although not for that lovely sky). Meager example attached. Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted May 1, 2006 I missed this one until today! It's a fine addition to the series. Carsten and Pat have said most of what I might say. I did think the contrast enhancement strengthened the impact. I wouldn't crop, though: I like that bit of dormant grass in the fg. Unlike Pat, I think the sky could be tweaked a bit, to render the darker parts more dramatic and the ray-of-hope bits more prominent. As always, the composition of this one shows great care and deliberation. Link to comment
david robinson 0 Posted May 4, 2006 Thanks folks for your feedback. Pat, again I appreciate your improvements. The added contrast in the midtones does indeed strengthen this image's impact. All of these Nisqually images are taken in the Niqually National Wildlife Refuge. The Tension of Rhythms is looking out onto the Nisqually Flats. The Flats are mudflats -- our tidal changes here on Puget Sound are extensive. Low tides may extend the reach of mudflats as far as a mile. When you visit, we will kayak over there. In this image my house is just over the bluff. Link to comment
