kslonaker 0 Posted April 18, 2006 A previous compilation of a concrete monkey with my son's eyes overlaid with boat rust this time round. Link to comment
djackson99 0 Posted April 18, 2006 I like the feel of this image. It is a little disconcerting. My eye wants to see something in the upper left corner to know what is there. Maybe I am better of NOT knowing. Link to comment
home page1 0 Posted April 19, 2006 This is a creative image and imaginative. As a physician who treats chronic pain, I'm curious about why you entitled it such. Link to comment
haleh b 0 Posted April 19, 2006 I have to admit that I am somewhat trying to find the connection to pain as well. To be honest with you I have never been brave enough to combine animals with human yet digitally speaking that is! Link to comment
kslonaker 0 Posted April 19, 2006 Ken, the "fire" look at the bottom and the haunted look in the eyes is what inspired me to entitle this "Pain". It's also something I'm dealing with at the moment on a personal level, so it's on my mind a lot. Haleh, I didn't actually combine a human with an animal; this was really a concrete statue at the zoo of a monkey and not a live monkey. I liked the texture of it. But I won't say that I will never combine humans and animals...it could happen! Thanks, Drew - I appreciate your visit, too. Link to comment
haleh b 0 Posted April 19, 2006 Live or not I must say it is a challenging mix. I admire your willingness to take on such complex canvas. Link to comment
kslonaker 0 Posted April 19, 2006 My original of this shot (see "Humanized" in Digital Alterations folder) just won first place in an Art Show here, which surprised me! I almost didn't enter the image because it's very weird. However, it does compel you to keep staring at it, so I guess that was the appeal. :) Haleh, I hope you have considered putting some of your photos in contests because I think you would have a very strong chance of coming away with prizes every time. haleh b 0 Posted April 19, 2006 I am very choosy when it comes to contests. My type of work is not very popular with the judges who are boxy. I always wonder about who those judges are and what qualifies them to be in charge of the selection. Link to comment
kslonaker 0 Posted April 19, 2006 Haleh, there is no telling what the judges are looking for in contests, that's for sure! I've seen some BAD (imo) photos win and some excellent (no, not mine) NOT win and can't figure out what the judges were thinking! Link to comment
afterthoughts 0 Posted April 20, 2006 Complicated to make this image but worth the time. Link to comment
