I like the symmetry in this photo. My only nitpick is the way the trees under the rainbow fade away off to the left. It makes the horizon appear slightly tilted, though I don't believe it is. That's really getting picky though. I love the intensity of the rainbow and how the area under the inner one is brighter than the rest of the scene. Nice catch!

james, i fully agree with you, but one cannot be too picky in choosing the spot, since the phenomenon is very transient. i was quite content with what i did find, in addition it was still raining, where i was standing. maybe i should have tilted the picture a bit in the presentation to counterbalance the effect.

Nicely done. I love the tones. And of course the rainbow effect is aesthetically pleasing, but even without it, the picture has much merit. The dark gray clouds match well with the earthy and vibrant land and trees.

Keep shooting, your shots are always top notch.

Dieter, I understand exactly what you mean about having to go with what you've got lest you lose the moment. I'm sorry, but I think I was a bit unclear. I didn't mean to suggest that the horizon actually is tilted, merely that it "looks" that way because of the formation of the tree line in the center. I think the horizon line is actually quite straight, but the way the tree line fades away at an angle creates a false sense of unevenness. It's just a natural phenomenon of perspective that I was noticing. I don't fault you or the image for it at all. Once again, great moment to catch on film... or on an imaging sensor for us digitographers!

So you had a chance for two pots full of gold coins instead than one... do not know whether you found those legendary treasures, but -for sure- you got a precious shot!

I think you were lucky enough with the spot for capturing the whole first arch and even the whole second arch! I like the spot of light onto the field, the shadows of the tree to the left, and also the foreground. The latter is not bad, with the structures in the soil and the overall play of lights and shadows which warps you into the image.

I know I can calculate this myself from the distance between the arches, but being lazy today I'd just ask you which focal lenght you used, and whether this was cropped or full frame.

Jeez. "In the right place at the right time".
