justinblack 0 Posted April 16, 2006 I was lucky enough to spend two weeks in Death Valley this past March, teaching a couple of workshops with David Muench. Between sessions, I spent a few days going back to locations we'd visited the week before. I headed back to the Mesquite Flat sand dunes for first light the morning after a huge windstorm that had erased several days worth of footprints. Several other photographers had the same idea, and I managed to expose just a few frames of this composition between gusts of wind in changing sunrise light before a couple of my fine tripod wielding brethren made tracks through the shot and climbed onto the tallest dune. Getting out early has its rewards. Unfortunately, because this was scanned using the film holder on an Epson 4990, it has a very slight crop, which just barely cuts into the curve of the shadow line at far right. The original allows this line to continue without meeting the edge of the frame, which will be revealed when I drum scan it in order to make a print. Your thoughts are greatly appreciated. - Justin Link to comment
beechcomber 0 Posted April 16, 2006 very nicely done....framed very good with great shadow play...the sand pattern at the bottom left adds plenty as does the general depth of the image into the distance.thanks for sharing Link to comment
asr 0 Posted April 16, 2006 At first sight, it looked so familiar to the Windows XP desktop wallpaper. But the softer colors are much better on this one. Enough detail on either side of the divide. Good job. Link to comment
