Thanks to all the raters to my photo. BUT: WHY 3/3? WHY 7/7? How can I understand the value of my work in this way?

Are You all without words? Are You all fearful to leave a little thought?

Thanks.

Ok, I'll try to answer your question... At this point, you've got a single 7/7 and 5 average or below average ratings. I think you can interprete these results in the following manner: the 7/7 is the odd one, and imho, such a rating for this picture makes no sense at all. If this rates a 7/7, then how is the rater going to assess the most amazing artistic pictures posted on this site ? 12/12 maybe...? :-)

Perhaps for this individual who rated this picture as "excellent", technique is the only thing that matters ? Or perhaps he loves the subject matter ? I wouldn't know. But 5 people thought of this picture as more or less "average" - and so do I.

Yes, the technique is fine here: exposure is acurate, focus too. But what about the composition and subject matter ? To most people, I believe this picture is just not very interesting - count me among these people. Ok, it's a worker doing his job, like we see everywhere. His job is to hang up there, which may seem quite amazing to a couple of people, but to me, this job is what it is, and we know what it's like. So what am I learning from viewing this picture ? Do I get to know about the way he feels up there ? No. Is this a statement showing how dangerous his profession is ? If it is, do we really care, or is this new in any way ? I don't think so.

Therefore, I'd say you are not saying anything meaningful or important with this picture. Therefore it's going to be boring for most people. As boring as a normal market shot or any other normal picture of a normal man doing his daily job. That probably explains why this picture was rated average or a bit lower in originality.

As for aesthetics, as I said, nothing wrong technically. But the man is mall in the frame, and you centralized him in your composition. We needed some context here, of course, so we could understand where he was and what he was doing, but... 1) Centralizing him in the frame was perhaps not the best choice, and mostly, 2) did we really need so much sky and space - aren't we losing his facial expression, and what are we getting in return to hold our interest ?

To me, sorry if these words may seem a little harsh, this picture is a nothing much approach to a nothing special subject matter. You may want to think in the following terms, in photography, generally speaking, when you are about to trigger your shutter: what will (really, strongly) hold a viewer's attention, with this picture ? If you can't answer this question within 1/2s, chances are that your picture will lack the necessary spice needed for any good photo. Regards.

I am REALLY grateful to You for your comment. This is what I'm searching.

An HELP to improve my photography. If nobody says nothing, how can I know if my photo is good, or bad, or insignificant, or....?

The lonely rating says NOTHING to me. The people could rate low (and high, too) for habit, for spite, or (and I hope it is!) with a motivation. Then: WHY DON'T EXPLAIN THE MOTIVATION?

That's all.

Thank You again.
