Still Life with Float

robertbrown

Shot on a medium-bright morning. Nice light, calm river, no wind. Had my two assistants (twins, age 7), each shooting a roll of 35mm. I shot a lot of abstracts.

I'm working on a series of details, abstracts, etc. from fishing boats

and dock areas. Photos are more about colors and light than trying to

represent boats and docks. Interested in your comments, ratings, and

suggestions. I'll be out shooting again this weekend, so suggestions

are especially appreciated. You may check out more of these in my

Astoria Waterfront folder. Thanks for your help.

I like the lighting and the color. The orange and medium blue is complimentary to each other.

Couple of suggestions: 1, you may want to skew the picture a get rid of the keystone effect from lower camera angle; 2, The right hand side of the picture doesn't add much to the picture, take a look at the effect if you crop it down to only four bars from the left.

Envy you that you can stil go shooting outdoors. Here in the Northeast, we have to wait a couple more months and hope we get some nice snow scenes.

this is a great picture. it draws my eyes all over it, and that is the definition of a good picture. on the color side it is very nice and contrasting!

Fishing buoys are a common subject choice here in Alaska, but you really did a nice job of composing an original and interesting image that conveys shape and color well. Nice job on a tough exposure.

I like these shots. Here the order against the seeming disorder through the bars and the colours. These views are everywhere but we usually don't see them. So it's nice when someone does.

Nicely taken, but graphics, colors and subject are not particularly interesting (to me). Regards.
